How we control technical text
A glossary before we start
On large projects we build a terminology glossary before translating and ask for any glossary your company or the manufacturer uses, so a “safety valve” is the same on page one and page four hundred.
Units and values as written
We neither convert units nor round values. Pressure in bar stays in bar, torque in newton-metres stays as it is, and tolerances are carried over exactly.
Codes and reference numbers
Part numbers, drawing callouts and references to international standards are carried over untranslated, so a technician can match the manual to the machine.
Warnings first
Danger, warning and caution statements are translated at the same level: “danger” is not “caution”. The second translator checks them in a dedicated pass.
Layout
We keep headings, numbering, tables and image positions so the translation can be used directly on site or in the plant.
When do you need a certified stamp?
Not every technical translation needs one. An internal manual for a maintenance team may not, but documents submitted to a government or regulatory body, attached to a tender or contract, or accompanying a shipment are often required in certified form.
